callie mackenzie (she/they) is a Kingston, NY based musician, multidisciplinary artist, and organizer..

She has been organizing around social justice issues since middle school, and has been on the frontline of many social justice movements. callie has developed strategies and campaigns, co-founded and built an abolitionist organization, developed and presented training curriculum on a variety of political education topics, as well as spoke at local universities and social justice conferences.

She has a Master's Degree in Human Services, and is a forever student of Nonviolent Communication, Transformative Justice and is a trained conflict mediator.

Playing piano and guitar since a young age, callie was always interested in performing, participating in school chorus, chamber singers, musicals and performances through the local school of music.

While raising 2 children, earning their master’s degree and working in non profits and social movement spaces, callie’s music and art were sidelined, only playing guitar around the campfire.

In 2020, callie began writing music again to deal with feelings around the state of the world, and participated in open mics in the Hudson Valley. They left their nonprofit job in March of 2022 to focus on abolition from a different perspective - healing, joy and community - as a performing musician, and artist. In a world that tells us that we need to be strong all the time, music and art is a revolutionary act: to show that we can slow down, feel our feelings, express our feelings, and feel joy.

Through this time callie has been living in the intersections of art & social justice, organizing Liberatory Learning & Healing Spaces, consulting with social justice organizations to continue to support the next generation of organizers, and writing, releasing and performing music as well as creating and selling art, organizing musical events and teaching workshops.
